Putting your mind at ease

We are a 5 star dental phobia award winning clinic.

Most people experience feelings of nervousness and anxiety before they visit the dentist. But if you feel extremely worried or scared when faced with the prospect of spending time in the dental chair, this can be distressing and you may feel that you are unable to get the treatment you need. At Apollonia Dental Care we recognise that some patients dread seeing the dentist or having dental treatment, but we have vital experience and specific training in caring for nervous patients and those with dental phobia. We are proud to be a dental phobia certified practice and have treated many nervous patients over the years.

We aim to ensure that our clients feel comfortable and relaxed when they come to the practice. Our friendly, understanding team is always happy to go the extra mile to make the dental experience as stress-free as possible for nervous patients. Our practice is designed to be comfortable and peaceful and we offer sedation to help patients relax during treatment.

If you are nervous or anxious please talk to one of our team, who will do everything they can to help put your mind at ease.

What is sedation?

Sedation dentistry has become a sought after option and involves using sedative medications to help patients overcome their fears and relax while they undergo dental treatment. Sedation is not the same as general anaesthetic; sedation induces a state of deep relaxation, while general anaesthesia brings about a lack of consciousness.

There are various methods of sedation, including oral sedation (taking sedative medication orally), inhalation sedation (inhaling sedative gas through a mask) and IV (intravenous) sedation, which is where sedative medication is injected directly into the bloodstream.

In addition to nervous patients sedation can also help people who have a sensitive gag reflex or a fear of having dental instruments put in their mouth. Sedation is also favourable for patients who have a phobia of the dentist due to negative or frightening experiences in their past. Sedation is extremely safe and we have a 100% success rate with Dental Phobia and we also offer sedation to help patients relax during treatment.

Benefits of sedation

Sedation is beneficial for both dentists and patients in situations where patients are nervous about having treatment. Sedation enables patients to relax completely and this allows the dentist to focus on the task in hand.
