What are Fastbraces®?
Fastbraces® is a relatively new brace system which moves the teeth much quicker than traditional fixed braces. Dr Goddard was the first Dentist in the UK to be honoured with the Master affiliate status, recognising her clinical excellence with the system. Fastbraces® are available in metal or clear
How does the Fastbraces® system work?
Fastbraces® are able to move teeth quickly because they use a patented bracket system, which moves both the root and crown sections of the teeth at the same time. In most cases braces move the crown sections of the tooth first and then the roots, in which case treatment can go on for a long period of time. Fastbraces brackets are triangular in design and only one wire is required.
How long does treatment take?
The exact treatment time will depend on the individual. However, treatment with Fastbraces® is normally complete within 2-6 months. In less complex cases treatment may be complete within just a few weeks.
Who can benefit from Fastbraces® treatment?
Fastbraces® are suitable for patients of all ages. They are versatile and can treat many of the same problems as traditional fixed braces, but just in a shorter space of time. Fastbraces® are able to treat the following orthodontic problems:
- Spaces between the teeth
- Problems with the bite, including underbite, overbite and crossbite
- Misaligned teeth
- Crooked or twisted teeth
- Overjet (protruding front teeth)
We will determine if you are a suitable candidate for treatment during the initial consultation. If you are not a suitable candidate we can discuss other options with you and recommend the best treatments based on your preferences, budget and orthodontic prescription.
The Fastbraces® firm is currently working on Fastbraces® Clear, which is a clear version of the Fastbraces® appliances. This will enable patients to benefit from better aesthetics and reduced treatment times.
What are the advantages of Fastbraces®?
The major advantage of the Fastbraces® system is speed – the braces can move teeth to create a straight smile in a much shorter time frame than conventional braces. Typically treatment is complete within 10 weeks to 10 months, while patients with less complex orthodontic prescriptions may be able to have their braces off after just three months. Fastbraces® have been designed with comfort in mind, and in most cases there is no need to extract teeth. This is especially beneficial for children and nervous patients, as the prospect of having teeth extracted can be daunting.
Another major benefit is that Fastbraces® have been designed with comfort in mind and almost never refigure teeth to be removed even in severely crowded cases. The revolutionary technology causes the moving teeth to grow their own bone and make enough space to align them and become straight.
