Dental implants Liverpool
Dental implants are small titanium screws that replace the root section of a missing tooth. The implant is inserted into a socket in the jawbone and once it has integrated it can be attached to a denture, a dental bridge or a crown. Doing so will restore function to the mouth and create a natural looking, healthy smile. Implants are becoming increasingly popular because they effectively replace missing teeth.
Our Dental implants Liverpool based service is quick, safe and easy, and usually only needing only the same anaesthetic as for completing a filling.
Am I a suitable candidate?
Dental implants are ideal for most people, but if you smoke, have low bone density or have poor oral health, you may be advised to consider alternative treatments or change your lifestyle. If you are not a candidate for this procedure we are on hand to discuss other options and provide information and advice.
What does the procedure involve?
The implant treatment process involves at least two appointments. The first session is where a small incision is made in the gums, the tissue is lifted and a small hole is drilled in the jawbone. The implant is fixed into the socket, the incision is closed and the treatment site is then left to integrate. The healing process takes time, but a temporary restoration may be fitted until the implant is ready for a permanent restoration to be attached. Once the implant has healed fully (this usually takes between 2 and 6 months) the crown, dental bridge or denture is attached and you can start enjoying your new smile. We have also just invested in a brand new 3-D CT bone scanner to replace our old one, which sets us apart from our local competitors who haven’t upgraded there’s in the last 8 years. A scan may be required during your
What are the benefits of dental implants?
Dental implants have numerous benefits and are considered by many as the best possible solution for missing teeth.it is a good idea for most people to replace teeth that have been lost. Not solely for aesthetic reasons, but also to reduce the risk of oral diseases and damage to the neighbouring teeth and to restore function to the mouth. Benefits of dental implants include:
- Improved function
- Natural aesthetics: you will not be able to tell the difference between your natural teeth and the implant
- Reduced bone loss
- Better oral hygiene (it can be easier to clean…)
- Preservation of other teeth: there is no need to interfere with the neighbouring teeth
Are there any downsides?
Dental implants are not cheap and they may be considerably more expensive than dental bridges and dentures. However, the implants in the bone itself can last a lifetime if covered for and maintained properly there with the crown or bridge where on top will need to be replaced from time to time in the same way as those supported on natural tooth roots. Considering this, the initial fees paid represents a long-term investment and this may work out cheaper in the long-run.
